This deal is from the
Swiss Teams event at the Bolton Congress in early September.
After South had raised North's opening bid, West pre-balanced with two spades. North bid the obvious game and East saved in four spades. South bid five hearts, West passed and North passed after a long hesitation. John Currie sitting East took good advantage of this, bidding five spades, knowing that North was likely to bid six hearts after considering bidding it earlier. North duly tried slam and John knew what to bid and lead! |
