This deal from the Ben Franks Pairs on 3rd December is a minor curiosity.

Unsurprisingly with a combined 27 points and no eight card major fit everyone played in three notrump from the East hand.  Most made nine tricks, a few made more when the defence slipped.  Five diamonds also makes.  But the top scoring contract is four hearts in the three-three fit!

Suppose South leads a trump.  West can win in dummy and lead a diamond to the king.  Then two top clubs and a club ruff followed by a second diamond.  South can get a diamond ruff now and North a club ruff, but that is the end of the defence as East can draw trumps and get to dummy with the nine of diamonds to take the spade finesse and make ten tricks.
