Another slam from the Manchester Congress.  The auction above is that of the pairs winners Barry Myers (South) and Alan Mould (North).
After a one heart opening and one spade response, Barry judged that his hand was not quite good enough to force to game and rebid two clubs.  When Alan bid three notrump Barry had a tricky call.  He decided that he wasn't good enough to jump to slam, but too good to bid a mere four hearts, so jumped to five hearts.  Alan had an obvious raise to six with good controls and excellent trump support in context.  On a diamond lead this contract is not wonderful, mainly because of the spade blockage, but with the heart finesse working it rolled home comfortably for an 80% score.
