Another instructive
deal from the Swiss Teams at Deva.
After North's game forcing response of two hearts to South's opening
one spade bid, South decided to rebid a new suit at the three
level. Playing two over one game forcing this bid is not as
strong as in an Acol sequence, but it shows better than a minimum
opener. North showed his three card spade support and then a
series of control showing bids followed. When all of the side
controls have been shown a bid of five of the agreed major asks partner
to bid slam with good trumps. Here both players have been a
bit optimistic but the final contract is certainly playable, if not
great.
