This deal from the
Green Point Pairs earlier this month features a helpful defence from
Alan Mould (North).
Raymond Semp led a small spade from the South hand against East's contract of one notrump. East won with the ace and played a diamond to the king. Declarer now played a heart to the king followed by another diamond to dummy's nine, Alan discarding the ten of hearts. Declarer now exited with a spade and Raymond cashed the spades. On the last spade Alan threw the heart queen, so Raymond was not hard pushed to cash the diamond ace followed by the club ace and a further club for Alan to win all the club tricks; three off. Thanks to Raymond Semp for reporting this deal |
