This
wild layout from a deal in the Tollemache qualifying
led to some interesting results.
Most
often the auction started one heart from East, two
clubs from West, then five diamonds from North.
This
stopped East West from finding their only making
game - a very unlikely five clubs played by East.
Many
Easts now bid five spades with West bidding six
hearts. Six hearts, either doubled or not, was
usually two off.
Some
Souths took a save in seven diamonds for two
off. A few pairs played six clubs, one pair by
East after a Precision one club opener.
The
best scores for N-S were three pairs who played five
diamonds (two of them doubled).
The
best scores for E-W were doubling seven diamonds for
two or three off.
One
of the Manchester pairs played seven hearts,
surprisingly North failed to double.
