discouraging four of hearts and declarer
follows with the nine.

There
is no hurry to play ace and another spade to
prevent heart ruffs in dummy, you can always
do that later if needed. Nicholas
Greer found the switch to a small
club. This had the effect of cutting
declarer off from his club suit in
dummy. Declarer tried the ace of clubs
followed by the queen discarding a
diamond. Now if he plays a heart to
the ten and king North can play a third club
which South ruffs with the spade ten to
promote a trick for the spade nine.
