                                          MATCH PLAY GUIDELINES

CONTENTS

CHAPTER 8

Weekday evenings are the norm but some teams may be able to play at weekends or during the day.

If weekdays, a normal start time would be between 7- 8pm with a finish not later than 11.30.

The Home Team should offer light refreshments.

Bidding boxes should be used, except in the case of disability.

Tables should be in different rooms or well spaced.

The visiting team should give the home team reasonable notice if it includes a disabled player with special requirements.  If the home team cannot provide a venue which is able to accommodate those special requirements, the venue of the match should be switched to one provided by the visiting team.

In 24 board matches opponents should be changed at half time, home team to sit.

Important:- In private matches one card should be upturned in each board prior to the match.

Dealing should take place together with the opposing team, before the start of the match.

Duplimated boards may be played provided both captains agree beforehand.

Each pair, playing other than a simple system, should have an identical EBU 20B System card.

These can be downloaded from:  system cards

Do not re-deal any board which is passed out.

The date, result and players should be entered immediately after the match on the EBU website. See Chapter 3 for details.

If there are time constraints at the venue the Home Captain must notify the visiting captain in advance.
