Club Championship 2014
Congratulations to Kevin Jones on winning his first club championship.  He doubtless would have won many more if he hadn't played bowls during the summer in previous years.  Jon Wilkinson, in his first year at the club, lead for a large part of the year and finished four points behind Kevin.  George Hall was third and last year's winner Mark Calderbank fourth. Thanks to all players for supporting the club this year, where our average attendance has been the highest since 2008.

One Day Tournament 6th April
The 12th annual tournament at Manchester Bridge Club on 6th April attracted a full house of 56 entrants, with players from as far as London, Birmingham and Bangor as well as Northerners from Liverpool, Lancashire, Yorkshire and Manchester.

The event ran smoothly with everyone playing five 5 point matches in the late morning/afternoon followed by a Main KO final for the top 16 and a Consolation KO for the remainder.  There was also a last chance KO for those who lost early in the Main and Consolation finals and a 1 point KO which ran throughout the day.

Former British champion Rachel Rhodes emerged as worthy winner, beating Kevin Jones in the final.  Rachel and Irving had an exciting semi-final watched by a good sized audience - see photo below for a critical cube decision.

Buffet food was provided for lunch and tea.  Thanks to Lorraine Lighton for the tea (lunch was provided by a catering firm) and to Irving Czechowicz for directing on the day.  Also to Annette Jones for scoring and Rodney and Lorraine Lighton for administration, to club members for helping set up the room and clearing up and to Manchester Bridge club for hosting the event.
