CHAPTER 7

          Match Scheduling

Matches can be played in any order but, if in doubt, refer to the League Fixture lists (Chapter 3) which (given your team number within your division) suggest how you might schedule the matches between September and April.

Please note that some teams are available to play during the day and at weekends.

Team Captains can check the preferred days of the other teams in their division.

Teams with more than 4 players should inform their opposing team of the line- up before the match.

The home team should offer light refreshment, having consulted the away team about dietary requirements.

       Match Arrangement

Either captain may initiate the arrangement of matches, though the onus is on the home side, who need to be able to arrange the venue for the match.

Consult with your team members to identify free dates and then contact your opposing captains to offer these dates, on a first-come-first-served basis.

The opposing captains should contact their team members and should email you back as soon as possible.

Any unusual starting time, physical difficulties or dietary requirements should be mentioned at this stage.

Either captain should send a reminder of venue and time before the match.

Make sure the reminder is duly acknowledged in case a computer is down.

      Venues

Matches should be played at a local club or other suitable venue.

The tables should be in separate rooms.

Bidding boxes should be used.

The home team will be responsible for the table money or any costs, except at a half-way venue when they will be shared equally.

The venue should be within 12 miles of the centre of Manchester.

    Match Timetables

Matches begin in September and should be completed by 15th April

Matches should be played regularly throughout the season.

The last 2 weeks of April will be reserved for "catch-up" matches.

If you have recurrent difficulty in arranging a match, you should contact the organiser (and definitely before April) to allow time to resolve the problem. The organiser will attempt to find a date suitable to both captains and, if necessary, shall fix a date and time for the match to be played.

Team captains shall make every effort to honour agreed match dates and starting times.

Every effort shoud be made to play all matches, as awarded matches do not necessarily lead to equity with the other teams in the division.

In the event that a match has not been not played by the end of April, both teams will receive a score based on their averages.

However, adjusted scores maybe given, based on the reasons for the match not being played, the playing records of the two teams and the likely effect on other teams who played all their matches.

A team not playing its full quota of matches cannot win the Division.
