Latest News Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Northern Bridge League.
Formed in 2006, the NBL is a teams-of-eight competition between the  County Bridge Associations of Northern England and North Wales. The League is divided into three Divisions. The A Division is for teams consisting of the county's best players, the B Division is for the county's next best players, whilst the C Division is aimed at club players.

There are four all-play-all events each year, held on Saturdays in the Summer months. Events, which are of around 42 boards, start at 12.30.  A buffet meal is included, and most people are on their way home by early evening.

The third round of this season's event on Saturday 9th September finished with the positions very close at the top of divisions A and C.  In the A Division Manchester A1 and Lancashire share the lead just ahead of Yorkshire 2 and then Yorkshire 1.  In the B Division Cumbria now have the lead over Lancashire, but it is not insurmountable with Westmorland and Mersey/Cheshire not far behind second.  In the C Division Yorkshire SE are just ahead of Yorkshire NW with Westmorland a close third.

In the B division North Wales were unable to field a team and therefore lose all their matches 6-14 (see the 2015 review meeting minutes).
